Every day more people are joining Luxillia, an application that functions on shared empathy.
Luxillia was designed to help you with the really rough times when you feel like there’s no one who understands what you’re going through. Maybe you suffer from depression, loneliness, an eating disorder, chronic pain, or maybe you’re a care taker; there are others out there who face similar challenges. Luxillia was created by one of those people and her partner (care taker) to combat feelings of isolation and to help you make it past another day.
When you join, you are able to select whether you would like to give or receive help, but you can always change your selection later depending on how you’re feeling. We find that many people who have a hard time feeling joy can actually find a sense of purpose in life by helping others who may be in a similar situation, thus the concept of “shared empathy.”
We designed Luxillia specifically omitting the use of photos and videos because this is not a dating site or a selfie competition. If you need help, it doesn’t matter what you look like. While we maintain social media pages such as Twitter and Facebook for advertising purposes, we specifically chose to omit in app connections to social media platforms since many of them seem to exacerbate the issues. Mental health, for most, has much stigma surrounding it causing people to be afraid to seek help. We want our community to feel comfortable sharing their true concerns, emotions, and worries without the fear that someone will find out, or the fear of repercussions from having additional life challenges. We believe privacy in a time where everything is known to be a much needed and valuable asset.
We hope that if you are suffering that you will seek out the help you need and we hope that you will join the Luxillia community as an auxiliary support system for those moments when you need a little extra compassion, honesty, trust, and empathy in this ever stressful world.
